St. Agnes Academic High School has partnered with Molloy College to match student interests with college resources. Offering an up close and personal look at college and careers, our students gain valuable insight from accomplished leaders in higher education through a series of experiences, seminars and workshops at St. Agnes and at the Molloy College campus in Rockville Centre.  

Education, ministry, community and prayer comprise the four pillars of our Dominican tradition and building pathways of engagement between two Dominican institutions is a natural fit.  

The D.R.E.A.M BIG Program offers:

Selecting the necessary courses in high school and choosing the right college to prepare every student for a career in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math are important decisions for high school students and their parents. Molloy faculty work with students to explore topics in the following career areas:

Students interested in Biology, Chemistry and Environmental Studies meet with the researchers at the Molloy College Center for Environmental Research and Coastal Oceans Monitoring (CERCOM) located at the Blue Point Oyster Hatchery in West Sayville.  A science research center and monitoring station on the Great South Bay, CERCOM develops solutions for environmental problems in coastal ecosystems through a network of programs and research.

Students visit the state-of-the-art New Media Lab at Molloy College and explore new technologies and platforms focused on creative expression.  Molloy faculty along with New Media and Art majors discuss digital writing and design, digital storytelling, figure drawing for the iPad, and electronic music.

Molloy faculty discuss studio production, editing and post production, online content production and video storytelling.   Students learn about the the day-to-day operation and maintenance of a television studio including equipment, inventory and upgrades as well as the importance of integrating social media in the production process.

Students considering a degree or a career in criminal justice are invited with their parents, to a discussion about the nature and consequences of crime in American society and the structure and function of the criminal justice system.  Students learn about college internships and career opportunities in criminal justice from experts in the field.

Students interested in a degree or a career in Dance, Theatre or the Performing Arts discuss acting, dance, voice and movement, scenery, costumes, sound, lighting and stage management with faculty from the award winning Madison Theatre at Molloy College.

Choosing a Career Path  

Choosing a career path that fits your personality is the key to success!  Juniors, Seniors and their parents meet with the Director of Career Counseling from Molloy College to explore interests, personality, work values and skills in preparation for college and a successful career.

The St. John’s College Advantage Program (CAP) provides qualified seniors the opportunity to enroll in college credit courses from the university while still enrolled in high school.  St. Agnes currently offers CAP courses in British Authors, College Writing, Advanced Algebra, Calculus, Human Biology, People and the Environment, Psychology, Psychology of Women, and Emergence of a Global Society.

Program Requirements:

Open to Grades 10, 11 and 12, students are eligible to receive up to 12 college credits. Students work one-on-oe with a mentor on a science research projector their choosing.
